Restricted mouth opening, also known as trismus is mostly due to an oral condition known as oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF). Sometimes trismus is also caused after a third molar extraction. If the trismus caused is due to OSMF, initially steroid ointments are given followed by surgical intervention.
Trigeminal neuralgia causes several neuralgic pain and is best treated by means of medication and later on surgery.
